eSIM for two weeks of Greek island hopping
Prices checked 22 October 2026 · Sources linked in every row
Who this is for
Two weeks between Athens and the islands: ferry and booking apps, maps, messaging, lots of photos and stories, and some short video.
How much data you'll probably need
Holiday use with plenty of sharing (2 h maps, 1 h browsing, 1.5 h social feeds, 15 min short video, 30 min voice calls, 20 photo uploads a day) is about 0.52 GB per day on our calculator assumptions, roughly 8.3 GB for 14 days including a 15% buffer, so a 10 GB plan fits. Your number may be very different, so run your own estimate in the data calculator.

Our take
A 10 GB plan covers the estimate with a little margin: Yesim 10 GB/30 days $19.20 (shown discounted from $30.00), Airalo 10 GB/15 days $19.50 or Saily 10 GB/30 days $22.99. If you post a lot of video, 20 GB costs $26.40 (Yesim, shown discounted from $60.00), $35.00 (Airalo, 15 days) or $35.99 (Saily, 30 days). Fifteen-day unlimited plans cost $48.00 (Airalo) and $51.50 (Holafly); Saily shows Unlimited at $48.99 on a card that lists 5 to 30-day options. Worth knowing: Airalo's Greece prices were higher than its France prices for the same allowance on the same day (10 GB/15 days: $19.50 in Greece, $16.50 in France), so compare per destination rather than assuming one European price.
Worth knowing for this destination
Live in the EU/EEA? Under the EU's "roam like at home" rules, using your home mobile plan in another EU country is charged at domestic rates, subject to your operator's fair-use policy (Your Europe, European Commission). Check your own plan's roaming data allowance first: you may not need an eSIM at all. Travellers from outside the EU/EEA (for example the US, UK or Australia) should check their home carrier's roaming charges.
Islands and ferries. Mobile coverage depends on the local networks. Saily's Greece page lists coverage in places including Athens, Crete, Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini and Corfu, adds that coverage quality depends on local network providers, and says the connection may switch to 4G on smaller islands or in remote areas. Save ferry tickets, booking confirmations and offline maps on Wi-Fi before you sail.
How this page was made: we compared the prices and terms that each provider publishes on its own website. We have not tested these eSIMs ourselves on this trip type, and we do not report speed or coverage results. For coverage, check each provider's network list and your phone's eSIM compatibility before buying.
Plan details to know
- Airalo: Unlimited plans and fixed-data plans. Check each package's details on Airalo for fair-use or speed terms; we did not find them stated on the country page.
- Saily: On the Saily pages we read on 22 October 2026, fixed-data plans show one validity each (1 GB: 7 days; 3–20 GB: 30 days). The Unlimited card lists 5 to 30-day options with a single displayed price, so confirm the price for your validity at checkout. These pages state no hotspot restrictions and did not state a daily full-speed limit for Unlimited (Saily's pages for other countries that we read earlier said 5 GB per day at full speed), so check the plan terms before buying.
- Holafly: Unlimited data plans by number of days. Hotspot sharing is limited to 1 GB per day (per Holafly's pages). Data only, no local phone number.
- Yesim: Fixed-data plans are 30-day plans; on 22 October 2026 the 5–30 GB plans were shown discounted from a higher list price (we record the price shown and note the list price; discounts can end at any time). Unlimited is sold per day; the page we read showed $4.20 for 1 day and no prices for longer durations. Plan details list hotspot as 'Depends on operator' and say speed may be limited under the network operator's Fair Usage Policy.

Before you buy
- Check that your phone supports eSIM and is not carrier-locked (each provider has a compatibility list).
- Install the eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly; turn on data roaming for the eSIM line on arrival.
- Download offline maps of the places you'll visit to cut data use.
